A remote treasure with stunning lake views, an abundance of wildlife & amazing starry skies!

Set in the most enchanting & private of locations, The Lake House offers a much needed sanctuary from the busy world.

This gloriously secluded cabin boasts lake views, an abundance of wildlife & amazing starry skies! Nestled in its own private grounds, enjoy serenity, seclusion & immerse yourself in the soothing sounds of nature. Relax in the gorgeous hot tub & enjoy cosy nights by the fire pit. Reconnect at this romantic, off the beaten track retreat & savour the splendid isolation found here!

The space
The Lake House was the first cabin we built here at Bellbrook Farm so it has a special memories for us & it's the best location for those looking for total privacy - it's also the most popular with our returning guests!

Outside there's glorious view across the lake, magnificent trees and an amazing decking with a gorgeously relaxing olympus pro hot tub. The inside is just as welcoming with vintage crockery, local artowrk and handmade tables. The master bedroom is a realxing haven with Helena Springfield bedding & towels and William Morris black out curtains. The Lake House is unique, sustainable & furnished with love!

Our aim was to retain the wildness in the surroundings whilst making it a cosy place to call home and we hope you feel this too. We have been blessed with the most amazing reviews and hope they'll attest to the beauty & respite found here.

The Lake House is part of "Bellbrook Farm Hideaway Holidays" and we're proud to be a regenerative holiday destination. We're passionate about protecting our native wildlife and love welcoming fellow nature lovers! Since 2022 we have worked in partnership with Devon Wildlife Trust and Mother Nature to transform our former trout fishery into a precious haven for nature. As such swimming, boating and fishing in the lake is not permitted as it harms the delicate ecosystem we're protecting.

Dedicated wildlife watchers will be able to spot endangered water voles, deer, very shy otters and kingfishers as well as amazing array of dragonflies which dance around the lake in the summer.

We are surrounded by beautiful countryside and very little else so a car is essential to access any shops, cafes, walks etc. Tnere are only one or two very hilly walks directly from the property.

The lanes are single track for 2 miles so you'll need to get your reversing groove on! There are lovely shops & cafes in Bampton (5 miles) and Tiverton (9 miles) has a beautiful National Trust, a castle, museum, a beautiful canal and several supermarkets. Exmoor is just under 20 minutes drive and Dulverton is the place to hire an amazing telescope to check out the stars.

The gorgeous hideaway location is perfect for those looking to switch off as we can not get broadband or a TV signal so we use a mobile signal (not 100% guaranteed) for miFi & the TV only works by streaming. If guaranteed wifi and a fast connection are essential it's not the place for you. We do provide a selection of board games so you can unplug & enjoy some old fashioned fun on those mifi off days!

A bag of local wood & Exmoor Fat Raven charcoal are included in your stay. If you need more these are available to purchase.

Please note: that due to the close proximity and unfenced nature of the water & decking children & infants are not permitted and therefore we do not provide any child friendly bits and bobs.

We hope to see you soon and welcome any questions. We will always give an honest answer as we want all our guests to have a 5* stay at "Bellbrook Farm Hideaway Holidays"

Guest access
Guests have sole use of the cabin. The neighbouring fields, woods & tracks are privately owned farmland so guests are not permitted to walk through these.

Other things to note

  • The house is virtually on the lake, so parking for one car (no vans) is just above the cabin which is accessed by a private and somewhat bumpy stone track so we don't recommend it for very low slung cars. It is then a short walk of approximately 50m along the grass and is slightly sloped. It can get muddy so don't wear your new white trainers or bring your best wheeled luggage - wellies are always recommended 😉
  • The cabin actually has 3 bedrooms (there's a small children's room with bunk beds). However we only accept couples. You will always have the entire place to yourselves ❤️
  • We are a sustainable and regenerative holiday destination and we believe resources like water, heating & electricity are precious so we ask that our guests respect and support this. We only use eco friendly products, all our toiletries etc are refilled, the welcome basket is locally sourced or home produced and any food guests leave behind is donated to the community fridge 🌿

The place is beautiful. It is isolated and so peaceful and it was lovely to wake up in the morning to the sounds of the birds - it was a perfect escape. The place was also very clean and very well equipped. Ellen was also very responsive and friendly. We would definitely recommend staying here 😊

The most perfect escape.
I completely lost myself for 3 nights and left feeling so invigorated. The lake house itself is so thoughtfully laid out and has everything you need to feel immediately right at home. Went from 100 to chill almost immediately on arrival. Ellen was super helpful and responsive when I was asking about the local produce and area (and when I forgot some items after I’d checked out! Subconscious kicking in on not wanting to leave!!!) - I absolutely can’t rave about it enough and will definitely be back, It’s the absolute perfect nature hideaway.
The location is lovely and secluded but very close to lots of lovely villages and walks that are easy to explore, although be warned - it’s very difficult to leave the solace of the lake house!
